Lorex Live Ping LNC204 Review

I got a pair of Lorex Live Ping LNC204 from Costco.com, they were on sale $199 for a pair.   I liked it because it is Wifi and quick to setup.

Costco shipped 2 in 2 individual retail boxes within a bigger shipping box, that is no surprising.  Setup is really a snap.

1) download the Lorex Ping App (Android and/or iPhone)
2) create the QR code
3) plugin the camera to power
4) press and hold the WPS button, it beeps, the scan the code
5) done on the camera side

Now you can find the camera from the cell phone app, and adjust the angle.

Couple of things you have to be mindful, first of all this is indoor rated.  It means you can't mount it on top of a roof.  You have to mount it somewhere indoorsy.  Such as in the porch.  Second thing is you will still need to plugin to a receptacle, (power outlet).  The power adapter is a good old AC-DC, but it is a USB on the power adapter end so I suppose you can get an extension of USB.

Mounting screws and anchors are included too.  Just get you trusty drill to drive those screws in.

I installed one in the front porch and one in the back porch.

Two way audio is very neat too, so you can "talk" to the opposite side, but it is simplex, so you can hear the other side when you talk.  My kiddos already have a great time with it.
I think it is a great baby monitor, whole house intercom, when Mama needs to get the troops for dinner and did not want yell across the house.

You can have 4 concurrent monitors sending video feeds if you run the PC or Mac Software.

NAS feature is not very useful for me because it only supports Windows, whilst I run Mac and Linux at home.  I also got a microSD card for recording and have it send e-mail alert to me.  They are very reliable, I even got an alert of myself taking this photo.

Norge 18 GA Floor Nailer Review

Lumber Liquidator had the Norge 18 GA Floor Nailer on sale for $299, that ends on April 1.  We bought it online, they called us the same day at 7:00 pm to pick it up.  I guess they have it in stock.

(Of course same photo from my other entry.)

2 weeks later Lumber Liquidator had the price reduced more to $269, I used nice guy discount and they are nice enough to refund $30 difference.

That begs the questions on why didn't us rent one from Home Depot.  Because....we want to work 1 hr a day, we can't allocate a few days at once to finish the job.

It is a very professional tool, because there is no instructions in the box.  You will see right away on the tool that you need to oil it daily.

Other than that I don't do anything else.  So far we have completed 500 sq ft of our project.  It has be flawless to say the least.

The nailer is pneumatic, so I use this air compressor, my olde faithful Porter and Cable air compressor.

Yet one more thing you will need are.....cleats, 18 GA cleats.  I don't have an opinion on cleats vs staples on floor.  Cleats are serrated, but staples hold it very tight too.   As shown on the box:

I used 2 brands of cleats:

Freeman 1 1/2 in long, 18 GA

Porta Nails, 1 1/2 in long, 18 GA

I got them form Amazon.com , both works great.  I'd like to keep them from excessive dirt/dust just to avoid any jam.

Bottom line for us: simple operation, reliable and does the job. (Touch wood) I haven't had any jam. I don't see it coming either.

I love using it, very efficient and get the job done well.

Experience with Lumber Liquidators

To start the project we needed 1,500 sq ft of hardwood planks.  Prices ranged from $1 to $7, and it added up.

We are avid viewers of This Old House and Ask This Old House and Lumber Liquidators is their sponsor.  Naturally we though that was the place to go.  So we went, and many times.  Our closest Lumber Liquidators is about 40 mins away.   We went there so many times I felt like there was someone important there.

As the name implies Lumber Liquidators is a liquidator, my guess is beside Bellawood, they don't have the logic for any other planks.  Just come as they are, so set your expectations.  Because for 2 times we ordered on-line, and have the manager called us in the afternoon that he has no idea if the shipment is coming or the inventory is not correct....and he wanted us to cancel our orders.

On a better note.  We ordered the Norge 18 Ga Floor Nailer on-line in the afternoon.  He called me at 7:00 pm to tell me to pick it up.  Pictures below:

Unfortunately they are so far away, it is just not the right place for us to shop.
