Bingo! Google gave me this link:
Life in the Chocolate City
The guy there have the exact same pinkies as me.
"It turns out my crooked pinkies are a medication conditions called clinodactyly. As I research more, there are many forms of clinodactyly, but a fifth finger clinodactyly is a genetic condition."
See this link:
The Troubles with Pinkies
and there the author there quoted Burke:
"Burke has subdivided clinodactyly into four categories:
- Familial with a dominant inheritance not usually associated with other abnormalities.
- Associated with other congenital abnormalities, as in the 60 or more syndromes.
- Involving injuries to the growth plate, physical or thermal, most commonly juvenile rheumatoid disease and, in northern climates, frostbite (Figure 3).
- In a thumb with three phalanges."
I am pretty normal, and not associate with any "syndromes" so out goes 2. And I did not sustain any injuries to BOTH of my pinkies to the exact same extend, out goes 3. Finally it is on my pinkies not my thumb, out goes 4.
It led me to conclude that my having a pair of deformed pinkies is in fact genetic. And a "Dominant inheritance" means, the feature would show up even it is paired with a normal gene. Thereby it is concluded for one to have such fifth finger clinodactyly, one's parent(s) must have the same.
Here is the catch: neither of my parents have them, nor my brother. None of my uncles and aunts have them, nor did any of my grandparents.....So who are my parents?
It is funny how the inter-web help spread knowledges. It actually is confirming something that I have long suspected: they are not my biological parents. My "dad" and I don't look like a bit! To a very minute extend, I kind of look like my "mom". My proof:
Dealing with Genetic Differences
It went on to say:
"Remember, too, that sometimes adopted children do resemble their adoptive parents. Just because someone is not genetically “yours” doesn't mean she will have nothing in common with you."
Ok, where do I go next? Should I ask my mom if she ever had an affair?
Probably not an exciting question to ask a conservative mother.
Or I don't relate to my "parents" at all. My wife notices the differences of me from the rest of the family, such as the shape of our hands, our build and especially our temper. Granted it seems easier to shape a child's emotion than his/her physical appearance, it seems that my emotions have not been shaped in my 18+ years with them!
Interesting isn't it.

Hi there. I know this is an old post so you might not see my comment. My 7 year old son was born with crooked pinkies. We noticed as soon as he handed him to me seconds after giving birth, I guess we were counting fingers and toes and all that important stuff. Anyhow, I just today googled it. Wow. I do not have this nor does my husband. When I asked the Dr. about it he said someone in my family must have it. Then I read what you wrote. What?! One of the parents must have it too? My husband does not. Then, I started looking at my fingers. My pinkies are totally normal looking,as fingers go. Then I remembered how easy it was for me to reach that last key on my flute in high school and how my pinky never seems to bend quite right. Maybe I have it too but just a mild form. Look very closely at your mom's hands. Bend her pinky. You never know! Good Luck!
